What makes Elephant Pharm so unique?

Our mission is to act as a bridge for customers between traditional drugstores and retailers that focus on natural and organic products.

Conventional and alternative products: Elephant Pharm integrates all of the best elements of a conventional drug store with a broad, carefully selected range of alternative and complementary remedies and natural products. So in addition to all the products you would expect to find in a traditional chain drug store, Elephant carries natural products that our customers trust and appreciate: earth-friendly, fair trade, locally produced and organic.

Products and people: We're a one-stop wellness store committed to helping people take charge of their health. We encourage thorough, thoughtful interaction between customers, staff, and practitioners. We offer our customers a broad choice of products as well as access to knowledgeable people and information to help them feel good and live well. Our unique hybrid of products and services is part of what separates us from other stores.

Prescription and herbal pharmacies: Our state-of-the-art “traditional” pharmacy fills prescriptions just like you’d expect in any “traditional” pharmacy. We also offer compounding, a specialized service that's hard to find in a chain drug store, which means we can custom make medications your doctor (or veterinarian!) prescribes in dosages and forms that aren’t available from commercial manufacturers. Our herbal pharmacy is stocked with everything needed to fill herbal prescriptions and staffed with licensed herbal pharmacists trained in Chinese and Ayurvedic traditions. Both pharmacies offer personalized attention from our friendly, caring team of professionals.

Free consultations: All stores have private consultation rooms where trained practitioners from diverse health backgrounds offer free consultations so our customers are better equipped to make educated decisions about their health care.

Free wellness classes: We have over 80 free health and wellness classes every month on subjects ranging from acupressure to yoga, as well as on-site events and special guest speakers.

Atmosphere: It feels good to be in our store. You’ll find a calming, but light-hearted atmosphere. We are dedicated to making life a little easier—and a little more fun.

How do the pharmacists and alternative practitioners work together?

We offer a complementary approach to a customer's wellness plan, one where customers have the benefit of information about the many different treatment options available to them. Every practitioner and advisor on staff works in complete harmony with the others-and, of course, our customers! Our store layout reflects this approach—the herbal pharmacy and the traditional pharmacy are connected, and our educational center offers health-related book resources.

We encourage customers to consult with the practitioners we have available to gain insight into the range of therapy options that might be beneficial to them.

Beyond one-on-one consultations, what types of education do you provide?

We heartily encourage that customers research their healthcare choices, and we offer many health and wellness tools to help them.

Each Elephant offers 80 free classes a month taught by local health and wellness professionals, including yoga, Pilates, relaxation techniques, Feldenkrais, skin care, massage, life coaching, feng shui and much more. Health-related classes include instruction on how to use therapeutic herbs and introductions to homeopathy and nutriceuticals. Elephant also hosts nationally recognized experts, guest lecturers and authors in our stores. Every event at Elephant is completely free of charge to our customers.

Information cards, available at no cost throughout the store, cover everything from Chinese herbal therapies to choosing children's cough medicine. These cards include information from both traditional Western medical and naturopathic perspectives.

Our bookstore has over 1,500 titles that complement the products we stock on our shelves.
