Is Elephant Pharm a "real" pharmacy?
Absolutely! Each Elephant Pharm Rx pharmacy is licensed by the California State Board of Pharmacy and staffed by licensed pharmacists. We fill prescriptions written by licensed prescribers—physicians, dentists, veterinarians, naturopathic doctors, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and others.
Does Elephant Pharm make "compounded" prescriptions?
Yes! Elephant Pharm is one of a handful of pharmacies offering expert compounding services. Compounding means our pharmacists can customize a prescription based on your doctor’s specific orders, even if it’s not something that’s commercially available. It also means that we can make kids’ medicines yummier so they’ll go down easier. We can even make your pet's medicine prescribed by your vet.
Our compounding pharmacists undergo extensive training and we are members of the Professional Compounding Centers of America.
What is compounding?
Compounding is the process of creating "custom" prescriptions for certain conditions that cannot be addressed by commercially available products. The prescriptions can be delivered in all sorts of forms and flavors. We can make flavored suspensions or gummy bears for kids, or liver flavored treats for dogs. Compounding is commonly used for Bio-identical hormone replacement, dermatological treatments, dental medications, veterinary prescriptions, pediatric prescriptions, pain management, and more.
Can I talk to an Elephant pharmacist about my prescriptions or other health products?
Elephant’s pharmacists are always available to take the time to talk with you about your prescriptions, answer prescription and OTC drug-related questions, and check for potential drug interactions involving herbs, vitamins, minerals, and other supplements. Every pharmacist on our staff is committed to our mission: providing thoughtful and thorough information so you can make wise choices about your health. We want you to look forward to coming to Elephant, even when you’re not feeling well. Our pharmacists want to help you get better and can guide you to other practitioners, like our homeopaths, to make sure you know all of your options.
Can Elephant Pharm help me get an unusual or hard-to-find drug or health product?
Elephant Pharm specializes in ordering unusual and hard-to-find drugs, OTC medicines, medical supplies and other items on request. We can usually get them in stock the next day.
Does Elephant Pharm deliver?
Elephant’s pharmacies provide overnight delivery of prescriptions for a modest fee.
Does Elephant Pharm take insurance? Medicare?
We accept almost all major insurance plans—over 100!—including the most common ones in our region: Blue Cross, Blue Shield, Health Net, Pacificare, Medco, Caremark, and Medi-Cal and major Medicare part D plans.
